BIOGRAPHY

My main goal is to compose or improvise new music, which is refreshing and makes one think about the world in which we live.

Since I have my roots in western classical tradition I find it important to build on that tradition. In the same time I like to find my inspiration in all other traditions in the world.

In order to achieve this goal I play solo concerts with not only my own composed and improvised pieces, but also works from other composers, who are relevant in the context, or compose for soloists, ensembles, orchestras or create music by electronic means with the computer. I like to stimulate my fellow musicians to create and there for let often space for improvisation in my written pieces or improvise together in order to find a way of inventing something new. Communication on different levels is essential.

I've composed music for one instrument solo with or without electronics, up to chambermusic, orchestral works and music for big band, dance projects and theatre I composed for: Ralph van Raat, Harry Sparnaay, Orkest De Volharding, Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Duo M. Koene & S. Gerritsen, Duo W. Hijmans & A. McMichael, Barcelona Percussion Group, Marcel Worms, Trio Arbos, and many more. I performed concerts with M. Stockhausen, Jorrit Dijkstra, R. Massari, Michael Svoboda, Frances Marie Uitti, R. Dick, H. Sparnaay, Garth Knox, W. Wierbos and many other fine musicians..

I started out as a classical guitar player, studied later flute and added the electric guitar.

Since 2011, I concentrate mainly on playing the amplified classical guitar, developing my own personal style, combining all the styles, which I previously have played.

I conducted many professional and youth orchestras, involving written music and improvisation. I founded various ensembles like Trio Sekwenza, Ensemble Barcelona Nova Musica , Intelligent Sound Ensembe and Globus Ensemble.

I am founder and director of Projecte Internacional d'Influències Musicals in Spain and Stichting Gooi en Vecht Muziek in Holland.

I teach the guitar, flute and composition in Weesp, Barcelona and online all over the world.
