Christiaan de Jong  (Rotterdam, Holland,1960)

The Intimate Guitar Concert

The Spanish guitar in the hands of a composerů.Christiaan de Jong is a unique guitar player living both in Amsterdam and Barcelona. He is a musician without stylistic borders and played with important musicians from very different traditions; classical contemporary, baroque, jazz, flamenco, Indian music and has a perfect technical demand over the Spanish guitar, based on the classical, flamenco and jazz technique.

In a intimate concert De Jong shows his more romantic side with pieces from the classical and Latin repertoire like F. Sor, F. Tarrega, H. Villa Lobos, A. Piazzolla or A. Lauro, contrasting in the next moment with rhythms from the renaissance and baroque Spanish composers like L. de Nervaez or D. Scarlatti and his own flamenco pieces. His own pieces are most of the time semi- improvised and influences from jazz musicians like K. Jarrett, B. Evans or C. Mingus, but also from all time composers J. S. Bach, C. Debussy or O. Messiaen are noticeable.
